The eggshell is partially lying in the frame. The sheet is mounted on cardboard inside a showcase frame. The frame shows slight use of the paint. The dimensions of the sheet are 39.8 x 29.8 cm. The frame measures 49.5 x 39.3 cm. Volker Stelzmann (b. 1940) A native of Dresden, Volker Stelzmann quit his job as a precision engineer in 1963 to study at the Hochschule für Grafik in Leipzig, where he taught since the mid-1970s. He was a member of the board of the Berufsverbandes Bildender Künstler of the GDR. He emigrated to West Germany in 1986 and started working as a professor at the Hochschule der Künste in West Berlin. Center of his artistic creativity are multi-figure panel paintings. Several international and national exhibitions were devoted to the artist and he was represented at the Venice Biennale in 1987.
