India ink and watercolor Japan paper Seff Weidl (1915-1972) – German sculptor, draftsman and graphic artist Signed ‘S. It has not been examined outside the frame. Seff Weidl (1915-1972) After completion of his studies at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste of Munich, Seff Weidl went to France and Italy. During the Second World War, he was called up for military service and fell into captivity. After his return home and the expulsion from Sudetenland, he found a new home in Bavaria, where he began working as an independent artist. A selection of his works was first exhibited at the Kunstverein Stuttgart in 1948. National and international solo exhibition, for example at the Kleemann Gallery in New York, as well as at the Neue Galerie Linz, followed. Weidl was commissioned several monumental works in the public realm, such as the bronze figure of Colonia above the main portal of the new Cologne City Hall.
