11" x 15" and signed lower right, "Herc Ficklen, Dallas News" illustrates dozens of planes named "Atlantic Pact Defense" leaving North America and heading to Europe. The APD preceded NATO. James Ficklen (Herc, short for Hercules), his childhood nickname. He drew comics for the Dallas newspaper for a whopping 48 years.
