작품 상세
JOSEPH M. W. TURNER (AFTER) (London 1775-1851 London) Lake Constance. Watercolor on cream wove paper mounted on thin card stock. 255x320 mm; 10x12 1/2 inches. Inscribed "Mr. Thomas Griffith and Mr. Clarke" in ink, verso. Griffith and Clarke were Turner's agents. The famous art critic, teacher and collector John Ruskin (1819-1900) bought Turner's finished painting of Lake Constance, from around 1841, and used the picture for teaching purposes for his art students to copy. This is likely one of the watercolors executed by a student of Ruskin.
