Gouache and opaque white on paper Bernd Kastenholz (1949), German painter and graphic artist Signed and dated „B Kastenholz 90" Titled and framed Overall dimensions 106 x 79 cm Very good condition   This large gouache by Bernd Kastenholz bears the mysterious title "Roter Falterfrühling" (= Red Butterfly Spring). Wound around a thin branch are one or more intertwined figures. At least two bodies and a few more heads can be perceived. One of the bodies is white and possibly shows the butterfly in its cocooned stage. The gouache is painted in strong colours and partly plastically over sand. The gouache and the frame are in very good condition. The dimensions including the frame measure 106 x 79 cm, the dimensions of the passe-partout cut-out measure 69 x 49 cm. Bernd Kastenholz (born 1949) Kastenholz was born in Speyer, Germany, and learned painting first at schools close to Speyer. He studied at the Academy in Stuttgart between 1969 and 1973. He works as a free artist ever since. He won many awards and participated successfully in solo and group exhibitions.
