Harry Sutton Palmer (British, 1854-1933) From Mowbray Point, looking towards Mowbray Castle, Hackfall, North Yorkshire signed lower right "Sutton Palmer" watercolour h:43 w: 60 cm Hackfall Wood, an ancient woodland, was bought in 1730 by John Aislabie, the owner of nearby Studley Royal, and it was developed as a wild Gothic woodland landscape in the mid to late 18th Century by his son William, to contrast with the more formal landscape at Studley Royal.
