작품 상세

The present work shows just a few objects on a simple table - a rummer, a beaker and a plate of oysters. They are clearly arranged and the artist has dispensed with unnecessary ornament. The colouring is also reduced to a clear palette of green, grey and brown tones in subtle nuances. Jan van de Velde was a pupil of his father of the same name, but instead of landscapes he specialised in still lifes, influenced primarily by Willem Claesz. Heda.
