ink and watercolor on paper, double sided, initialed in pencil at upper left, matted and framed under glass. SS 29.75 x 22.5 in.; DOA 39.25 x 30.75 in. Known for his assemblages, Thornton Dial is most prolifically a draftsman. In 2012, the Ackland Art Museum at UNC-CH mounted an exhibition of his works on paper from 1990-1991. The present work is a wonderful example of his coloration and the strong sense of movement present in Dial's drawings. Private NC Collection
