FRANCIS E. JAMIESON (1895-1950): FISHING IN THE LOCH Oil on canvas, signed 'W. Richards' lower right, with label from Ryman & Co., Ltd., Oxford, England. 20 x 30 in., 23 1/2 x 33 1/2 in. (frame). Note: English painter Francis E. Jamieson was a prolific painter of Highland landscapes. His paintings became so fashionable that he was contracted by furniture stores to paint scenes on furniture. It is believed that he used eleven different aliases and signatures so that he could sell more of his paintings without infringing on his contracts. One of these aliases was W. Richards, as here.
