The sheet measures 13.5 x 22 cm and the frame 26.5 x 34.5 cm. Heinrich Hermanns (1862-1942) Born in Düsseldorf, Heinrich Hermanns studied at the Academy in Düsseldorf from 1883 to 1893. His teachers were, for instance, the landscape painter Eugen Dücker, whose master student he became in 1889. In the same year Hermanns and a number of other Dücker-students founded the ‘Lucas-Club’, which was intended to be an advanced association of landscape painters. Hermanns’ works are inspired by the landscapes of Holland and West Germany. Later, he also created townscapes and interiors. Heinrich Hermanns was represented at the great German art exhibitions in Munich, Berlin and Düsseldorf, until the 1930s.
