Original seascape painting by Walter Launt Palmer, painted on board. Walter Launt Palmer (b. 1854-1932) was an American Impressionist artist best known for his winter landscapes. Palmer traveled throughout the United States and Europe, his style and landscapes reflect these influences. This work signed with his monogram (WLP) and dated November 16, 1892. Palmer painted a couple of boating scenes in his career, the color palette in this work reflects colors commonly seen in his winter landscapes. Fishermen prepare to leave the shore on a cloudy, moonlit morning. The artist uses tight controlled brush strokes. The work has yellowing, due to age, but is in overall very good condition. The work appears to be in the original frame. The frame is in good condition despite having a few missing pieces. The framed piece measures 33 inches by 26 inches. The image measures 24 inches by 18 inches. This lot has a reserve.
