Johann Jungblut (1860-1912) Johann Jungblut was born in Saarburg (Trier) and initially worked as a porcelain painter for the well- known German manufacturer Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach. He discovered painting as a self-taught artist, influenced by his impressions he gained in Düsseldorf, where he had settled in 1885. Jungblut specialized in landscapes and marine compositions and followed the tradition of old-Dutch paintings. His many trips to Norway and Holland served him as a great source of inspiration.
