Shobha Broota (India - Born 1943) - Early painting by Indian Modernist. Signed on the reverse. Not dated but the artist has confirmed with us via email that she painted this during her college years, "around 1961". Painting: 30 x 30 inches. Framed: 31 x 31 inches. Painting is in good condition for the most part but it does need scattered areas of touch up due to minor rubbing the surface as you will see from the photos. Provenance: Private Collection, California Shobha Broota has written the below email to us, confirming the authenticity of the painting: "I was surprised to see my very old painting on the screen. it took me some time to recollect the image in front of me. i wonder how it has reached your collection, i would like to know. This painting was painted by myself in around 1961 when i was studying in college.i am left with very few works of that period,but i do have works of later periods. My work has changed through the years as you see in my website but this has to happen if the artist also moves ahead."
