With a certificate by Klaus Ertz of 9.7.2014 Dimensions: 55 x 41.5 cm Frame : 72 x 58 cm Good condition Marvelous kitchen still life by the Dutch portrait-and still life painter, harmoniously combining diverse genres of still life with outstanding symbolic quality. Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 24,000 Euro The painting combines diverse elements of flower and kitchen still life, as for instance slewed poultry, seafood, a lobster but also vegetables, bottles and a splendidly painted wine cooler. The artist offers a view of the most varied objects on three different levels. The artist often produced more versions of his works with comparable variations, however, this is not the case. One version, that is thematically similar, however different in its content, is a Hunting Still life with dog, fruits and flowers that is kept in the Galleria Palatina in Florence (inventory nr. 523). In the present case, the liveliness of the painting is enriched by the tiny head of a kitten that is unobtrusively appearing in the composition, specifically in the lower right section where the fish plate is set. Literature: Klaus Ertz, Christa Nitze-Ertz, Die Maler Jan van Kessel, Lingen, 2012, cat. nr. 1 - 222 and cat. nr. 92 Condition: The painting is in good condition as consistent with age. A closer look with UV light reveals some retouchings that are visible in the upper section of the painting. The painting is relined and features a dated varnish. The painting measures 55 x 41.5 cm and the frame 72 x 58 cm. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
