The reverse displays four backed spots, and the canvas shows pressure marks evident from the stretcher. The general condition is good, consistent with age. The frame is in good condition with only minor signs of wear. The painting measures 47 x 65.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 69.5 x 87.5 cm. Johann Jungblut (1860-1912) Johann Jungblut was born in Saarburg (Trier) and initially worked as a porcelain painter for the well- known German manufacturer Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach. He discovered painting as a self-taught artist, influenced by his impressions he gained in Düsseldorf, where he had settled in 1885. Jungblut specialized in landscapes and marine compositions and followed the tradition of old-Dutch paintings. His many trips to Norway and Holland served him as a great source of inspiration.
