FERDINAND DE BRAEKELEER, THE ELDER (Belgium, 1792-1883) - Two Flemish Tavern Scenes, in the 18th c. manner, oil on tin, both signed on the 'window frame', one depicting two men sharing a quill of tobacco; the second showing two men at a table, one lighting his pipe with a spill from a handwarmer, the other nursing his pewter stein. In matching gold gesso frames, OS: 16 3/4" x 15 1/4", SS 6 1/2" x 7 3/4". Fabric marks in varnish of one.
