Franz Baumgartner (b. 1962) Born in Kleve, the painter initially trained in horticulture before he began to study art under Karl Marx at Fachhochschule Köln in 1985. In 1989 he continued his studies at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf, where Dieter Krieg was his teacher. Baumgartner's theme is the landscape, which he captures in quiet compositions, reminiscent of photographs. Franz Baumgartner lives and works in Cologne.
