Thomas Birch (American, 1779-1851), Harbor with Fishing Boats, oil on canvas, size 20 1/4 x 30 1/4 inches. A version of an oil by Charles-Francois Grenier de La Croix, called Lacroix de Marseille circa 1700-1782. Possibly copied by the artist directly from the original painting that may have been in the collection of Joseph Bonaparte at Point Breeze. Provenance: Purchased at Christie's,NY, collection of the Birch family, this work had descended in the family of the artist.
