Matt Lindstrom (Canada, Finland 1889 - 1975) Oil on canvas winter river landscape. Signed lower right. Oil on canvas. Sight Size: 23.5 x 29.5 in. Overall Size: 31.25 x 37 in. Before coming to Canada, he studied at an art academy in Helsinki for a year. He also studied at the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art, Calgary (for 3 years) and at the Banff School of Fine Arts* (1944). He began painting seriously in 1945 and fulltime professionally in 1947. Fellow Alberta artist Roland Gissing was a friend and frequent painting companion; and, Gissing?s website lists Matt Lindstrom as one of Gissing?s artistic influences.
