Charles S Graham (1852 - 1911) Passing Through The Allegheny Mountains, United States Circa 1880s. The monumental original oil on canvas panorama topographical view of the famous Horseshoe Curve pictures a Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotive pulling five Pullman passenger cars including one identified as FORTUNA, signed by the artist on the lower right front, the work is displayed in a later frame mounted with a 19th century plaque lettered 'PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD LIMITED EXPRESS Passing Through Allegheny Mountains United States' in black enamels on brass probably from the painting's original 19th century frame. Mr. McHugh's notes state that this painting was once hung in The Pennsylvania Railroad Station. Measures 37 x 78.5 inches.
