Edward Eisenlohr (1872 - 1961) Texas Listed Artist Oil Medium: Oil on canvas Size: 13" x 21 1/2" Frame Size: 16 1/2" x 25" Condition: Great, cracks on whole painting but free from danger of flaking Style: Realist Artist: Edward Eisenlohr (1872 - 1961) Edward Gustav Eisenlohr was active/lived in Texas, Ohio. Edward Eisenlohr is known for landscape, architectural, graphics. Edward Gustav Eisenlohr (1862-1961) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and his family moved to Dallas, Texas 2 years later. Considered a pioneer Texas landscape artist, Eisenlohr first exhibited his works at the Texas Coast Fair at Dickinson, Texas in 1896. His earliest art studies were with Frank Reaugh (1860-1945)& Robert Jenkins Onderdonk (1852-1917). He went to New York and studied at Woodstock and then to Europe. At Karlsruhe he was invited to join the master class of Gustave Schoenleber and the Granducal Academy of Fine Arts studying with Hans Thoma (1839-1924), Heinrich Truebner (1851-1917) and Ferdinand Keller (1842-1922). After returning to America, he spent five summers at the New Mexico art colonies of Santa Fe and Taos. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York; Southern States Art League; Art Association of New Orleans; American Federation of Arts; New Orleans Watercolor Club; trustee of the Dallas Arts Association. Eisenlohr exhibited his works at the Pan American Exposition; San Francisco' Worlds Fair; American Watercolor Society; Philadelphia & Chicago Watercolor Clubs: Santa Fe Museum; the Dallas Fair (one of his canvvases was exhibited next to a painting by Claude Monet); & the Edgar B.
