Hans Best (1874 - 1942) "The Fallen Hammer" Oil on Board. Painter and animal sculptor Hans Best was born in Germany in 1874. He studied with W. v Diez and Raupp in Munich. In 1913, Hans won the gold medal on the Glaspalastausstellung. Study visits took him abroad to Italy, Belgium and Paris, France.
