Oil/wood, 34 x 46 cm. - The castle in the center and the domed church behind it suggest that the artist is meeting the demand for views of Rome with Castel Sant'Angelo and St. Peter's without having actually seen the city. On depictions of the late 17th century Castel Sant'Angelo is shown with a high central structure and a huge flag pole. - Provenance: Private collection Lower Saxony. - Flemish landscape painter. Nothing is known about the artists early life. Possibly he worked for his father's art gallery in Antwerpen. Only in 1652 O. joined the St. Luke's guild.
