Alexandru Mărginean (1969, București) Backyard in Breaza (2005) oil on canvas; signed and dated on the back, in blue: Alexandru Mărginean 2005 73 x 92 cm Alexandru Mărginean is a renowned and beloved visual artist and the son of Viorel and Olga Mărginean. Since 1996 he has been a professor at the National University of Fine Arts in Bucharest at the Department of Fashion Design, where he still teaches today. With extensive art studies and art history graduated both in the country and abroad, Alexandru Mărginean outlines his life and experience as an artist since childhood. Always inspired by nature, he creates landscapes in the yard of his in-laws from Breaza or in the garden of the family house from Cenade. "I also paint at home, but I like working outdoors the most. I have been to landscapes since I was at the "Nicolae Tonitza" High School of Fine Arts in Bucharest. I went to camps, I studied landscape, animals: horses, cows, donkeys, puppies, I drew chickens, piglets. I don't think any creatures escaped my pencil."
