Loyal Orange Lodge Lithographic print - Irish Loyal Orange Institution or Orange Order depicting historical and religious symbols | The order’s name comes from the Protestant King William of Orange who defeated Catholic King James at the Battle of the Boyne in July 1690 | Inscribed on a banner in its bottom center: "Honor all Men. Honor the King." | Depicting in the bottom center King William on his white horse with sword raised, an image widely associated with the Battle of the Boyne, and taken from an oil painting by Jan Wyck painted in 1688 | The Order was founded in 1795 in by Daniel Winter, James Sloan and James Wilson after a stand-off in County Armagh between Protestant Peep O’Day Boys and Catholic Defenders ended with the Battle of the Diamond and the deaths of 30 Catholics.
