Monogrammed lower left: AK This large scene of a wooded landscape with a panoramic view to the right is a particularly fine and well preserved work of the Flemish-Dutch artist Alexander Keirincx. Although his early pieces show the same sharply contrasting palette used by his contemporaries in Antwerp, his later Amsterdam works display softer, more uniform tones, reminiscent of those used by van Goyen or Salomon van Ruysdael. The present work falls under the latter category of pieces made in the 1630s and is comparable to paintings kept in Keirincx, the Hague, St. Petersburg and Schleißheim.
