Pinder (lower right) watercolour and bodycolour 18 x 35.5 cm During the First World War Pinder was a conscientious objector. After the war, he travelled to Egypt where he was commissioned to paint desert scenes in the area around Port Said. He must have ventured further afield, as the Pyramids are about 200 kilometres from Port Said
