GB799.18 122 x 135cm PROVENANCE: Jirrawun Arts, Western Australia The Collection of William Mora Galleries, Melbourne OTHER NOTES: © Goody Barrett/Copyright Agency, 2024 This painting shows a dreamtime cave formed when Dayiwool the barramund jumped through the rock. The place was destroyed by the construction of the Argyle diamond mine. A group of women was trying to catch a barramundi by pusing a wall of spinife through the water. The barramundi got away and jumped through the rock and right over the ranges north of the mine leaving its scales there to become the diamonds. The artist is one of the owners of the song which tells this story.
