Gustave Cimiotti, Jr. (1875 - 1969) Oil on Academy Board, unsigned, titled "Rolling Hills" and labeled on back with R.H. Love Galleries from Chicago, piece measures 7.5 x 10 5/8 and 9.5 x 12 inches with custom gallery frame. Called the "Grand Old Man of Romanticism," Gustave Cimiotti was one of the exhibitors at the Armory Show of 1913 with two entries, The Barrier" and "Hillside. He was a student of John Twachtmann and also studied at the Academy Julian in Paris. He was a close friend of John La Farge and Winslow Homer.
