Jacques Carabain, Fischerfamilie am Strand Fischerfamilie am Stand vorm angelandeten Fischerboot, beim Leeren der Netze, mehrfach hielt Carabain und dessen Sohn Victor Carabain den pittoresken Leuchtturm am Meeresstrand in seinen Gemälden fest, einige dieser Motive sind mit "Küste von Savona" in Ligurien ortsbezeichnet, gering pastose Genremalerei in lichter Farbigkeit, Öl auf Leinwand, um 1900, rechts unten undeutlich signiert "J. Carabain", rückseitig Reste eines alten Etiketts, Altersspuren, im Goldstuckrahmen, Falzmaße ca. 36 x 27,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: geboren als Jacob Frans Jozef Carabain auch Carabin, nannte sich frz. Jacques François Joseph Carabain, niederländisch-belgischer Veduten- und Genremaler (1834 Amsterdam bis 1933 Brüssel-Schaerbeek), Schüler von Valentin Bing, studierte an der Akademie Amsterdam bei Jacobus Schoemaker Doyer, bis ca. 1856 in Amsterdam tätig, unternahm Studienreisen durch Europa (Belgien, Italien, Südfrankreich, Deutschland), ab ca. 1856 tätig im belgischen Brüssel-Schaerbeek, 1880 belgische Staatsbürgerschaft, 1885 bis ca. 1890 Reise nach Australien und Neuseeland, schuf 1894–97 im Auftrag des Brüsseler Bürgermeisters eine Serie von 59 Aquarellen mit Ansichten des historischen Brüssel, beschickte diverse Ausstellungen wie 1873 die Weltausstellung in Wien, 1877 die Dresdner Akademieausstellung und 1885 vertreten auf der Ausstellung der Victorian Academy of Arts Melbourne, Quelle: Thieme-Becker, AKL, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Piron, arto 1979 – Belgisches Künstlerlexikon, Boetticher und Internet.
