September 22, 1932) was an American painter and educator best known as a master portrait painter in oils and pastels.Born in Ironton, Missouri, she earned a BFA from Washington University (1954) and an MS in Art from the University of Wisconsin (1955). She refined her craft during six years of study at the National Academy of Design in New York, where she twice won the Julius Hallgarten Prize (1961, 1962).Her career combined teaching and a successful portrait commission business. She taught art at Mary Institute, Fontbonne College, and the St. Louis Art Museum, while completing prestigious portrait commissions for institutions such as St. Louis University, Washington University, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and several major corporations.Awarded Distinguished Membership by the St. Louis Artist Guild (1992) and recognized by the Knickerbocker Artists USA (1997), her work was exhibited nationally for over four decades. She continued her artistic practice until her later years, passing away after a period dedicated to her family and community.
