작품 상세
BRIGMAN, ANNE W. (1869-1950) The soul of the blasted pine. Gelatin silver print, 7 5/8 x 9 5/8 inches (194 x 244 mm), signed in ink on the image, annotations in pencil in an unidentified hand on verso, framed. A superb image by this Californian pictorialist photographer, who was one of the first members of the Photo-Secession. She began photographing around 1901. In 1902 she wrote to Stieglitz, who was excited by her work, and made her an official member of the Photo-Secession. In 1906, she was made a Fellow of the group, and she was exhibited by them in 1908 and several times thereafter. In addition, she was a friend of Jack London and a member of the Bay Area bohemian community.
