WHITE, CLARENCE HUDSON (1871-1925) [Portrait of a man, possibly a self-portrait], 1905. Likely gum bichromate over platinum, 8 3/16 x 17 1/4 inches (207 x 185 mm), signed and dated both in the image and in pencil on the mount (l.r.). A mark runs part-way up the image, however this appears likely to be original to this copy. A remarkable example of photographic portraiture, incorporating multiple techniques to achieve an unsually painterly and sensitive portrait. C
