During a happening that took place from 11-20 September 1992, Thomas Huber delivered a speech entitled ‘Die Bank. Eine Wertvorstellung’ [The Bank. A value proposition]. The artist questions the function of banks within a system of values that has become the ‘verbindlichste Medium unseres täglichen Lebens’ [most binding medium of our daily life]. In that regard, Huber proposes to stimulate banks to buy more works of art as an investment. In so doing, the symbol of ‘The Smell of Money’ that is usually attributed to banknotes, would be transferred to the quality of images. Condition: The photograph is in very good condition, showing only the lightest wear from storage.  Thomas Huber (b. 1955) Thomas Huber was born in Zurich. He began his studies in 1977 at the School of Applied Arts in Basel, and then continued his studies at the Royal College of Art in London in 1979. He was a master student of Fritz Schwegler at the Academy in Düsseldorf from 1980 to 1983. Huber often complements his stylized paintings, watercolors, drawings and objects with texts that describe his ideas and concepts. He lives and works in Berlin.
