DAVID OCTAVIUS HILL and ROBERT ADAMSON, "Master Miller, son of Prof. Miller." Salt print from calotype negative, 1845. 7 7/8 x 5 ¾ -inch image mounted on 11 x 7 3/8 -inch page. An inscription is on the bottom of the mount. This is Jimmy Miller, son of James Miller, Professor of surgery at Edinburgh and noted orator. There is a headpiece of s suit of armor on a chair at left. There are at least 4 variant images of Jimmy from this sitting in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland (Sarah Stevenson's Catalog.) There is some light foxing on the mount.
