AMELIA RIERA TOYOS (Barcelona, 1940). Fracesc Miralles, Ed Ausa, 1997. Provenance: Private Collection Antonio Orzaez (1933-2021). Some of the photographs bear the stamp of Antonio Orzaez. Size: 45 x 3 cm (photographs, x2); 13 x 20,5 cm (photograph); 22 x 16 cm (book). This set belongs to the personal collection of Antoni Orzaez, the artists' photographer. His work at the Sala Gaspar led him to capture and get to know the lives of many artists who are essential to the history of art. In many cases his closeness with them turned into friendship, as for example with Amelia Riera, who personally gave him many works, dedicating them to him with great affection.Amelia Riera trained at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. In 1963 she held her first individual exhibition, which took place at the Sala Belarte in Barcelona. She made her international breakthrough in 1969, when she held a solo exhibition of her work at the Il Giorgio gallery in Milan. Since then, and up to the present day, Amelia Riera has held solo exhibitions all over Spain, especially in Barcelona, as well as in Sweden, Warsaw, Tokyo and many other foreign cities. Throughout her career she has been awarded the Barcelona Women's Salon Prize and the Medal and Diploma of Honour at the Ancona Graphic Art Competition, among other prizes. Her work can currently be found in the MACBA, the Norrköping Museum in Sweden, the Zabaleta Museum in Jaén, etc.
