This HUGE mounted photograph actually came from the private collection of Count de Lambert, who was the most famous of all Wright brothers' pupils. It was taken at what would become recognized as the world's very FIRST school of aviation at Pau, France, and both Orville and his sister Katherine warmly signed and inscribed it as follows: "To our friend Comte de Lambert, with very pleasant rememberances of our charming days in Pau, Orville Wright, Katherine Wright, March 17, 1909." The gentleman in the hat and cane they're both talking to is King Alphonse of Spain, while either Wilbur or Count de Lambert were flying somewhere outside the image. It would be hard to overstate the rarity and historical importance of this remarkable double signed and inscribed photograph with its amazing provenance.
