Artist: DAVID KLEIN (1918-2005) Size: 25 1/8 x 39 3/4 in./63.9 x 100.8 cm Klein is best remembered for the dozens of destination advertisements he created for Trans World Airlines during the 1950s and ‘60s. Most of this poster output depicts famous landmarks in the abstract, a style that is widely attributed to his early work in watercolor. For Destination New York, Klein creates a stacked perspective of some of the city’s best known sights, piling landmark upon landmark – St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza’s Prometheus, et al. – then crowning them with a bust of Lady Liberty.
