Artist: GEORGES REDON (1869-1943) Size: 30 1/4 x 36 5/8 in./76.9 x 93 cm A rare and curious unsigned poster showing off the latest floatation device put out by the Société des Engins de Sauvetage. While to the contemporary eye it may look more like a showgirl's boa, the black wrap being tied around the curvaceous bather is filled with cork, kapok, or another buoyant material which would keep her from drowning. In the background, a man photodocuments the moment.
