Are there any Andy Warhol or Jean-Michel Basquiat fans out there? While both of these gifted artists have become so popular and collectible in their own right, they actually appeared together on a very rare and unusual poster for a onetime event in New York City at the Palladium Club on Saturday, September 14, 1985. The poster was created as an invitation to admit two people to a party to promote the joint exhibition of Warhol & Basquiat paintings at the well-known Tony Shafrazi Gallery in Manhattan. I was contacted by a gentlemen recently who wrote - I had been in the nightclub business since 1979 when I used to promote events and parties at Studio 54, Xenon, Underground, Red Parrot, Kamikaze,Danceteria, Limelight, Area, Palladium, Tunnel and others in Miami and LA up until 1998. I have two Andy Warhol & Jean Michel Basquiat party invite posters that are some of the last on the planet that are originals. Back in 1985, when my business partner and I ran a PR company ...part of our services to our nightclub clients was to design and print up the invitations for Steve Rubell & Ian Schrager, we only did a 1000 piece run for this invitation because it was such an exclusive party. We also worked as the graphic designers for the Palladium with an office in the basement and VIP access to everything and everyone there! Additionally, these poster invitations were the only way to get into the party, so 99% of the invitations where actually given back to the Palladium door for admission and then thrown away. These 2 posters are precious pieces of Art from NY nightlife in its heyday which celebrates two of the most outstanding artists to this day. I was able to purchase the posters and am offering them to our loyal clients. The posters are folded as issued and in absolutely mint condition. They measure 11"x17" and are printed on a glossy paper. This a wonderful opportunity to own an exceptionally iconic and rare image.
