THE RUSTLER'S ROUNDUP One Sheet (28" x 41"); Stone Lithograph ; Fine+ on Linen Universal, 1933 The great Western star Tom Mix is depicted in a superb portrait with a smoking pistol on this action-packed one sheet from Universal. This example was professionally linen-backed, with minimal touch-up to the folds to address general wear. Scattered tears in the upper half (including a horizontal tear on Mix's left cheek and a vertical tear on the image of the man to his left) were touched up, and the borders and portions of the white field were airbrushed to address small tears, chips, and creases. The restoration was very well performed, and this poster has an excellent display. "Rustlers' Roundup" is a pre-Code Western from Universal, directed by Henry MacRae and written by Frank Howard Clark. The cast includes Tom Mix, Noah Beery Jr., Douglass Dumbrille, Roy Stewart, and Nelson McDowell. Mix starred in eight Westerns for Universal, which were the majority of his sound efforts and the last films of his storied career. Posters for these films have always been elusive.
