Lucian Freud (British/German, 1922-2011), the grandson of Sigmund Freud, is known for his Realist nude figures painted with muted colors and thick brushstrokes, evoking the psychological relationship between artist and model. Freud's work has been exhibited worldwide: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; National Portrait Gallery, London; and most recently the Fort Worth Modern.
