DESCRIPTION: Anatole Krasnyansky (Ukranian-American, 1931- ). Seriolithograph. Musical Sphere. Abstract, series of figures seemingly inspired by the theatrical masks. Main part of image is done in mostly primary colors, with the addition of green. This grouping sits on a gray circular background upon a purple square. Signed in the lower right hand corner "A. Krasnyansky". Matted under a gold and black matt with a black acrylic frame. Krasnyansky first gained prominence by pioneering a new watercolor technique, adding paper texture to his colors, making them more like oil. He earned a master's degree in architecture and fine art, but moved to the United States in 1975 to gain more freedom of expression. His figures incorporated elements of his Eastern heritage as well as inspiration from the cubist ideas of Picasso and Braque, as well as American culture. MEASUREMENTS: 26-3/4" x 24-3/4". Overall with frame 37" x 35". CONDITION: Some chips to corner of frame around back, particularly in the upper right corner.
