Some of them wear animal masks and two of the men wrestle with each other. This image stems from the artist's creative phase when he moved towards a more and more figural style. As many of his works, also this one alludes to political events, in this case obviously to the German Reunification. The offset print is signed and dated lower right in pencil "D. Richter 04" and provided with the numbering "13/120". It is in very good condition. Verso some minimal abrasions are visible. The dimensions of the sheet are 90 x 120 cm. Daniel Richter (b. 1950) The German artist Daniel Richter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg under Werner Büttner and worked as an assistant for Albert Oehlen. Between 2004 and 2006 he was professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin and as off 2006 started teaching at the Academy of Arts in Vienna. He started out solely painting in an abstract manner and surely found his way to a figurative and later even to a story laden representational painting style. Daniel Richter counts as one of Germany's most prominent artists of the 'Neue Deutsche Malerei' ('New German Painting'). His work has been awarded with several prizes and is exhibited around the globe, as in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Berlin. Einige der Männer tragen Tiermasken und zwei von ihnen ringen miteinander. Diese Arbeit stammt aus der Schaffensphase Richters, in der er sich mehr und mehr zu figürlichen Darstellungen zuwandte. Wie bei vielen seiner Motive, spielt wohl auch dieses Blatt auf ein politisches Ereignis, nämlich offenbar auf die Deutsche Wiedervereinigung an. Der Farboffsetdruck ist in Bleistift unten rechts signiert und datiert „D. Richter 04" und mit der Auflagenummer „13/120" versehen. Er ist in einem sehr guten Zustand. Auf der Rückseite finden sich minimale Abriebe. Die Blattmaße betragen 90 x 120 cm. Daniel Richter (geb. 1962) Der deutsche Künstler Daniel Richter studierte an der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg bei Werner Büttner und war als Assistent für Albert Oehlen tätig. Von 2004 bis 2006 war er Professor für Malerei war er an der Universität der Künste in Berlin, seit 2006 hat er die Professur für Erweiterten malerischen Raum an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. Daniel Richter malte bis 2000 ausschließlich abstrakt und wandte sich zunehmend figurativen und schließlich erzählerischen und gegenständlichen Bildmotiven zu. Daniel Richter gehört zu den profiliertesten Vertretern der neuen deutschen Malerei. Seine Arbeiten wurden mehrfach mit Preisen ausgezeichnet und rund um den Globus ausgestellt worden, so in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto und Berlin.
