A complex pattern of gestural set lines in varying width, creates the graphical structure of work. Albert Fürst (1920-2014) is considered an early representative of the Informal. He studied at the Dusseldorf Art Academy and headed the Gruppe 53 in 1956 bis1957, which ranks as one of the nuclei of the Informal Art in Germany. Till 1982, Fürst worked in school teaching and only after then as a freelance artist. The aquatint is signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘A Fürst 61’ and inscribed lower left in pencil ‘Aquatint’. There are several tears (up to two cm), several partly sharp creases and occasional brown stains. The sheet measures 76 x 54 cm.
