Group of 3 after Ludwig Schmidt (1816 - 1906) fish hand-colored engravings. Inscriptions for all three in upper right of image: "Ostracion Trigonus. Das geperlt Dreieck. Le Coffre a perles. The Triangle Fish"; "Chaetodon Marginatus. Der cingefaste Klippfisch. La Bandouliere bordee. The bordered Chetodon."; and "Chaetodon Rhomboides. Der rautenformige Klippfisch. La Bandouliere rhomboide. The Rhomboidal Chetodon." Engraving of "Ostracion Trigonus" includes "Kruger jun. del." printed in lower left, "Ludewig Schmidt fc:" printed in lower right, and the monogram FLE printed in upper left. Engraving of "Ostracion Trigonus" measures 13.75" x 7.5" (35cm x 19cm) image size, and 16.75" x 11-7/8" (42.5cm x 30cm) sheet size. The other two measure 13.75" x 7-7/8" (35cm x 20cm) image size, 17.5" x 11.75" (44.5cm x 29.75cm) sheet size. All are unframed, loose and not glued or mounted. Provenance: C.D.
