Inspired by folk art, Felix Timmermans and Brueghel, he developed a distinctive, colourful visual language filled with humour and narrative. His work — cheerful and nostalgic with a touch of surrealism — established him as a true outsider artist. Encouraged by his father, the painter Dirk Oudes, he remained faithful to his imagination and gained wide recognition both within and beyond the art world.
