The Marriage of the Virgin who is standing in the upper center in a classical arcade receiving the ring, surrounded by many figures and seated prophets below. 'Iacobus caraio fecit' in center 'Fracs parmis inventor'. Engraving from circa 1525 by Jacopo Caraglio (1500-1565). It is the earliest of four plates engraved for Parmigianino by Caraglio, during Parmigianino's time in Rome (1524-7). The drawing by Parmigianino at Chatsworth, Devonshire Collection (Inv. No. 339).
