This is part of a wide frieze with the triumph of Christ consisting out of at least eight large woodcuts. The blocks were numbered from A to H. The first block was lettered 'Titian. inven. Andreas Andrianus fecit et dicavit D. Jacobi Ligotiae pic. Mag. Duc Etruriae. Romae'T. his is 'Section C: female martyrs and saints holding banners". This work was published by Callisto Ferranti circa 1626-1647. The woodblock is dated 1590-1600. The British Museum lists it as a work by Andrea Andreani. Andreani made this woodcut in reverse after the earlier 1517 version after Titian.
