This striking advertising poster for *Zeste – Citronnelle au Jus de Citron* is one of Leonetto Cappiello’s most imaginative and visually dynamic commercial designs. Created in France during the golden age of poster art, the image features a graceful, flowing female figure dressed in swirling orange drapery, joyfully embracing an oversized red flowerpot filled with a lush lemon tree heavy with bright yellow fruit. Set against a dramatic twilight landscape, the composition captures both elegance and exuberance, transforming a simple citrus beverage into a symbol of vitality and refreshment. Leonetto Cappiello (1875–1942) was an Italian-born artist who became one of the most influential poster designers of the early 20th century in France. Often called the “father of modern advertising,” Cappiello revolutionized poster design by abandoning crowded, text-heavy layouts in favor of bold, simplified images set against dark backgrounds. His work emphasized instantly recognizable figures and vivid color contrasts, ensuring that his posters stood out in the busy streets of Paris. Cappiello created hundreds of iconic designs for major brands, and his posters remain highly sought after for their originality, graphic power, and lasting cultural impact. The *Zeste* beverage was produced by Fournier–Demars of Saint-Amand, a French company known for its citrus-based refreshments. “Citronnelle au Jus de Citron” translates to “lemon drink with lemon juice,” highlighting the product’s fresh, natural appeal. Cappiello’s use of oversized lemons and a flourishing tree visually reinforces the drink’s citrus essence, while the elegant figure adds a sense of sophistication and pleasure to the brand’s identity. This is an Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.
